Retirement leads to a weakening of the material status, which makes it impossible to participate in social activities, leads to a feeling of social exclusion and impairment of psycho-physical health, which is the problem of the project.

In the area of ​​BBŽ, there are not enough organized activities that would meet the needs of pensioners, and it is recognized that civil societies are significant providers of non-institutional support and support for pensioners. The project will encourage and enable the target group to implement the program of active aging and improvement of the quality of life of retirees, thereby achieving the general goal of this Call and supporting the "Development Strategy of Bjelovar Bilogora County 2011-2013", priority 2.2. Health, social, sports and cultural development infrastructure, measure 2.2.2. Caring for particularly sensitive groups of society.

The goal of the project is to strengthen the implementation capacity of CSOs for implementing active aging programs and increasing the quality of life of pensioners in the area of ​​BBŽ in order to create a stimulating environment for the inclusion and continuous participation of pensioners. Through the project, the target group will be made aware of the importance of including the elderly in the community, the project partners will gain experience working on national and EU projects, which they will use in future activities. The programs that will be implemented for a minimum of 250 participants will have the purpose of improving health (informative workshops on health, healthy nutrition, kinesitherapy), which is a contribution to the "National Health Development Strategy 2012-2020, Priority 5: Encouraging quality in health care; Supervision, training and information".

By implementing social and recreational activities (Nordic walking, darts, recreational dance, table tennis, hanging bowling alley, creative workshops) that contribute to reducing loneliness and increasing mental and physical activity and encouraging intergenerational cooperation, the project finds its footing in the active aging program in the national document "Strategy fight against poverty and social exclusion in the Republic of Croatia (2014-2020)", according to which the elderly and pensioners belong to a large group at the highest risk of poverty and social exclusion, strategic document 4.6. Care of the elderly, strategic activities 1. Improvement the quality of life of the elderly and the expansion of services in the community, 2. Improving the position of pensioners. It is also based on the national document "Program for the implementation of the Strategy for the fight against poverty and social exclusion in the Republic of Croatia (2014-2020) for the period from 2014-2016", chapter 2.6. Strategic area: Care of the elderly, main strategic activity 2.6.1. Improving the quality of life of the elderly and expanding services in the community.

Project activities will be held in Daruvar (through the day care program) and in Bjelovar, which contributes to the "Development Strategy of the City of Bjelovar 2016-2020", chapter 1.2. Society, Measure 2.3.2. Improvement of spatial, material and personnel conditions of health and social welfare institutions.

Project activities fit into documents of sectoral competence such as "Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union 2012/c326/02" chapter III. Article 25. Rights of the elderly, talks about the recognition and respect of the right of the elderly to live with dignity and independence and to participate in social and cultural life. life in old age. The "Lisbon Ministerial Declaration of UNECE 2017" also encourages the improvement of active aging as a central concept and operational approach of national and regional aging policy.

Activities that will encourage intergenerational cooperation and the involvement of volunteers through the project are based on the "Communication on EU policies and volunteering: Recognition and promotion of cross-border volunteer activities in the EU (2012), in which measure 2.2.2. Volunteers keep society together, interprets that volunteerism can improve understanding between generations where young and old work together and support each other.
